Backstage at Making Peace

Making Peace is a process —an experience— by which community members are co-creating a work of art which is a continuing part of The Missing Peace, the traveling art exhibition. And it's part of the community engagement process at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.

Making Peace was conceptualized by "Sky" (Jim Schuyler), who developed the underlying technology, and by Joel Barraquiel Tan, Director of Community Engagement at Yerba Buena Center.

It's designed to be a two-way street: Making Peace will guide you thru a series of steps in which you'll reflect on peace in your own life; and during those reflections, you can send words and photos that will be incorporated into a living work of art, viewable online as well as in the Room for Big ideas at YBCA.

Making Peace was designed to be "played" from a mobile phone — so you can carry out your exploration anywhere, sending photos you've taken at home or out in the community itself. But you can also go thru the Making Peace process using any email, meaning from your phone or from your home computer.

YBCA is in San Francisco, but you are welcome to participate in Making Peace no matter where you are.
